In celebration of Raggedy Ann’s 100th birthday in 2015, I thought she would be a perfect Valentine theme.
Raggedy Ann is a character created by Johnny Gruelle in a series of books and received US Patent on Sept. 7, 1915.
Raggedy Ann is a rag doll with red yarn hair and has a triangle nose.
A sequel, “Raggedy Andy Stories” (1920), introduced the character of her brother, Raggedy Andy, dressed in sailor suit and hat.
A vintage looking wallpaper is used as a table runner.
I used four napkins at each place setting for color. One under the plates and three stacked to the left of the plates.
A Ball canning jar is used as a vase full of buttons for paper flowers.
On the center of the table are Raggedy Ann and Andy figurine music boxes.
Embroidered hand towels are used as one of the place setting napkins.
The big blue bow represents Andy’s bow tie and the jar of red paper shred or basket filler represents Raggedy Ann’s hair.
I displayed sewing items that are in the runner, a pin cushion and a jar of buttons.
Buttons are used as table scatter. Raggedy Ann once had buttons for eyes.
Raggedy Ann has a heart on her chest that says “I LOVE YOU”.

You stopped at one of our estate sales and left me your web-site. I am just now getting around to looking. You have really spent a lot of time on your web-site. It is really nice. Have you thought about doing children’s birthday parties? Maybe you all ready do them. I know a clown and maybe the two of you could team up. It could be a really profitable business.

I also admire your inventory management skills to keep all your tools and stuff in places where we never know what you have which just adds to the surprise we always look forward too each time you create a new story and display them so beautifully.I love you always my darlin!

Raggedy Ann and Andy have always had a soft spot in my heart! I had a darling pair, handmade by an Aunt. When I went away to college an entire box of my goodies got lost so I no longer have them. 🙁 My older sis still has hers. Cute idea to use the wall paper as the runner and I love the addition of the sewing items! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
