STEAM PUNK EASTER EGG

My interpretation of steam punk would be shabby chic meets industrial.

1

My sister and brother-n-law hosted Easter last year and had an Easter egg decorating competition.

2

For my entry I decided to use all recycled materials. David’s old jeans (he wants his blog name to be Ernie) and parts from old electronics.

3

I hid my name on a matching tag so the judges didn’t know who owned the egg.

4

I hot glued a jean flower and decorated the center with gears and small springs.

The pink plastic egg is sitting all comfy on Easter grass, in a jean basket and on a doily my Great Aunt crocheted.

6

The handle to the basket is made from the seam, down the leg of the jeans.

I “dressed up” a stainless cake stand with a big bow. I incorporated a hole that was in the old work jeans. “We’ll call that character.”

This was a tough competition and the creativity was over the top. All the eggs had lots of great personality, just like all of our loved ones at the Easter gathering. As always, a fun time was had by all.

Happy Easter!

Thank you for your visit, I’m joining:

This egg is so creative! The way you found a use for old jeans is so impressive!

  • I just happened upon this post! Wow! I love your egg and the basket. I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and I don’t know why but still at my age, I love the Steam Punk look. I am going to have to try making one like this or do you sell items like this? I love it!

Super crearive. Using the old jeans to make the basket was genius. And, the bow is the icing on the cake. Let’s not forget the egg…cute, cute, cute.
